Volunteer With Before Home

Volunteers are essential to the success of each placement. Before Home volunteers support the program through coordination, documentation, and communication—not hands-on care.

Volunteer roles may include:

• Serving as a liaison between the shelter and pet hotel
• Checking in with pet hotel staff and gathering updates
• Documenting the dog’s stay through notes, photos, or video
• Supporting adoption visibility while the dog remains under shelter authority

Volunteers do not:

• Provide training or behavior modification
• Offer medical care or rehabilitation
• Make adoption decisions or place dogs

Volunteer roles are limited, structured, and designed to ensure consistency and accountability throughout the pilot.

Before Home is designed to be replicated responsibly—one dog, one placement at a time.

If you are interested in helping implement a pilot program in your area, we welcome inquiries from individuals who can assist with local coordination, including:

• Identifying a participating shelter
• Securing a willing pet hotel or resort
• Supporting logistics and communication during the placement
• Acting as a local point of contact throughout the pilot

Local pilot leads do not take custody of dogs and do not manage adoption, training, or medical care. All dogs remain under the shelter’s ownership and adoption authority at all times.

Before Home provides guidance, structure, and oversight to ensure the program is implemented consistently and responsibly.
